What about genre-bending?

This will be a short blog post because I'm going to cheat and provide the link to another blog. Clever, eh?

So often when talking to people about The Scribe's Daughter, I haven't been able to clearly and articulately describe or define the genre. It's fantasty but reads nothing like fantasy. It's historical fiction but contains no real history. So what is it? Your guess is as good as mine. It seems other authors have the same trouble.
